A new study by four Canadian mathmeticians has revealed how quickly a zombie apocalypse could eradicate humankind and take over the planet. In a chapter of their new book (catchily titled Infectious Disease Modelling Research Progress) they apply the kind of mathematical modelling normally used to predict the spread of infectious illnesses (like swine flu) to a zombie attack.They’ve based it on the traditional slow-moving, cannibalistic undead zombie, rather than the more recent fast-zombies, and it turns out that we’d need to attack fast and often to have any chance of defeating the hordes.
